Quince Sweet is a confectionery made from the Quince fruit (Cydonia Oblonga). It originated in Spain and Portugal.
Native to Asia Minor and the Caucasus, the quince tree is a deciduous tree. The Greeks and Romans introduced this fruit to Spain, where it was consumed cooked and sweetened with honey. The sweet is made simply by heating quince pulp with the same amount of sugar until it forms a block that may be cut to accompany or fill other culinary preparations.
It is frequently served with cheese tapas in northern Spain.
